The Mogor Petroglyphs
 | |
Te petroglyphs found in the mountain of Mogor, adjacent to the town of Marín, continue to preserve samples forming groups of associated concentric circles and of the labyrinth type.
The labyrinths of Mogor have great likeness with those found in the island of wier, Routh of Lapaman, and in the oriental coast of Sweden, as well as in Finland in the island of Gotland, in Iceland and in Cornwall, which served as the base of the hipótesis of rereading them as the creation of one single travelling colonizar of the European west.
It is to be noted that the appearance of these engravings date around the year 2000 B.C. according to the widely accepted chonology, therefore in the times of the dolmen, Turing the Neolithic.
The symbolism of the Mogor petroglyph was explained by Mr. Fernández Gil skating that its a monumento created by cretans along their way through these coast in honor of Theseus, the hero that, according to the legend, slayed the fearsome minotauro.
Having analyzed its pattern he found it analogous to the one appearing in the coins from Knossos, which supported his thesis still nowadays cause of discord.
Diverse interpretations:
Professor Dr. Pericot interprets these petroglyphs as a derivation of the cave art of Altamira.
Dr. Jesús Carballo supports the thesis that the engravings in Galicia are the creation of the primitive celts and have orogin in the culto f the dead, representing the best poof of th culture of the burial mounds.
Dr. Ferro Couselo states that they are ending marks, referring to commercil delimitations. | |
